Mikel Arteta Amatriain, a Spanish football manager and former player, is currently leading the Premier League club Arsenal. Born on March 26, 1982, in San Sebastián, Arteta celebrated his 42nd birthday yesterday at the helm of the team.

His football journey began at Barcelona in 1999, but he gained prominence during his time at Scottish club Rangers, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish League Cup double in his debut season. Later, he moved to Everton in England, where he won the Everton Player of the Season award twice.

Arteta joined Arsenal in 2011, enjoying success with two FA Cup victories and a captaincy stint from 2014 to 2016. Despite representing Spain at youth levels, he never earned a senior international cap.

After retiring, Arteta transitioned into coaching, working as an assistant under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. In 2019, he returned to Arsenal as head coach, winning the FA Cup in his first season, with his role expanding to manager in September 2020.

During his playing career in the Premier League, Arteta made 284 appearances, scoring 42 goals, and providing 44 assists. As Arsenal’s manager, he has overseen 219 matches, securing 132 wins, 32 draws, and 55 losses.

Under his leadership, Arsenal won the FA Cup in 2019-20 and the Community Shield in 2020 and 2023. Arteta aims to achieve more significant victories, targeting trophies like the Premier League and the Champions League.

After 200 games with Arsenal, Arteta boasts 116 victories, surpassing Wenger’s 111 wins. Though both managers secured three trophies after 200 games, Wenger’s victories were all Premier League titles, including the historic unbeaten 2003/04 ‘Invincibles’ season.
