As ‘economy’ goes for N30

In a bid to ease transportation within the polytechnic premises, the Students’ Union Caretaker Committee, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) has acquired ten new tricycles.

The Caretaker Committee said the tricycles would be driven by students of the institution.

The Committee Public Relations Officer, David Akhilome gave this indication during a chat with Press Club MAPOLY on Monday.

Akhilome said this is coming just as the management of the institution has increased the fare for the Marcopolo buses popularly known as ‘economy’ from N20 to N30.

The PRO said the increase was necessary following the hike in the price of Automobile Gas Oil (AGO) popularly referred to as diesel used to run the luxury buses.

“The 10 tricycles were purchased by the Caretaker Committee of the Students’ Union to aid intra-campus transportation.

“It would cost N20 to be boarded by students. It is also expected to serve as a work and study medium for the students, as the tricycles will be driven by them.

“Also, the Marcopolo bus transport fare has now been set at N30, due to the increase in the price of diesel,” Akhilome said.
