OPINION: Shun examination malpractices

Youth of today are definitely the leaders of today and not tomorrow any longer. But elders and many responsible youth are worried for the behavior of some of the youths of today. What can one say of youth in their prime who are involved in examination malpractices? Such youth/students embark on searching for “Life” Question papers, impersonating, giraffing in examination halls and so on. Such youth may start well while manipulating their ways to ascend the stairs of success.

There is no doubt that they will later descend the stairs of fame in a disastrous way. It is a natural phenomenon.

Every youth/students should make probity his/her watchword. The craze one among the irresponsible youths now is to go to the cybercafe and start committing “yahoo offences”. Such youth wants to get rich quickly not knowing that riches with fraudulent will endanger and short live his/her life. The long hand of the law will catch up with them and if found guilty, they will be jailed. When this happens, from where do they start and where do they go to?.

Any youth who secure admission by fowl means to institutions of higher learning will be detected sooner or later. They will be thrown out of the citadel of learning to begin again in the harder way. You can imagine the accompanying shame and agony.

Every youth should have a good plan for his/her life. “Education is good but certificate must not be obtained through foul means”. Every certificate has dignity which it carries. Any awardee must be adequately equipped to uphold the dignity of the certificate he/she holds.

In many organizations today, complaints are rifee among employers that some graduates of higher institutions perform lower than expectation. This is sordid.

Every Nigerian Students must work acidously and have a plan for his/her studies. The harbinger of success is hardwork. Any achiever who really works for the his/her attainment will look up and jump for joy but fake achievers will look down with their conscience pricks them.

My candid advice to all youths is that they should SHUN EXAMINATION MALPRACTICES in all its ramifications. Examination cheats will not find places in the higher echelon of social, economic and political spheres of Nigeria.

Those who really sweat for their academic achievements know themselves and so they will not allow academic frauds to displace them in the scheme of things in Nigeria.

This had started to happen as evidence by happenings in our state and national legislative houses. Please embrace probity in preparing for and writing your examinations. Achievement based on effort is laced with joy and pride. Be a pride to yourself, your family and your country. Let your achievements be stainless for there lies your honour and glory.
